Minecraft Bedrock 1.12.0.2 APK is the first beta for version 1.12.0, released in mid-April 2019. This build reintroduces the camera item, adds a bunch of new particle effects, and expands game rules and commands for mapmakers and add-on creators. It's primarily focused on giving creators more tools to work with.

Camera Item Returns

The camera has been re-added to the game, though it currently has no functionality. You can only get it through the `/give` command. It's likely a work-in-progress feature that will get actual functionality in later builds, but for now it just exists as an item you can hold.

New Game Rules

Three new game rules give mapmakers more control over world behavior. The `spawnradius` rule lets you specify a radius circle for where players spawn. There are also `sendcommandblockfeedback`, `maxcommandchainlength`, and `commandblockoutput` rules related to command blocks and their feedback systems. A "Respawn Radius" option has been added to game settings too, making this accessible without needing commands.

Particle Effects Expansion

The `/particle` command got a massive expansion with 20 new particle types. These include:

  • Dragon-related effects (death explosion, dying explosion, block destruction)
  • Falling dust variants for concrete powder, scaffolding, gravel, sand, red sand, and snow
  • Enchanting table particles
  • Note block particles
  • Phantom trail effects
  • Underwater torch particles
  • Various lab and chemistry particles
  • Knockback roar and stunned effects

These give mapmakers way more options for creating custom visual effects in their worlds. The variety of falling dust particles alone opens up possibilities for environmental storytelling.

Command and Item Namespace

The `/give` command now supports the `minecraft:` prefix, which lets you separate vanilla items from add-on items. This prevents naming conflicts when you're working with custom content and helps organize item IDs. Item instance IDs can now be synchronized between clients and servers too, which improves multiplayer stability.

Dedicated Server Support

Content logging has been enabled on Bedrock Dedicated Servers, making it easier for server admins to track what's happening and debug issues. This is useful for servers running custom content or large multiplayer worlds.

You can download Minecraft 1.12.0.2 APK for Android to test these mapmaking tools and particle effects. This beta is especially valuable if you're into creating custom maps or working with add-ons, though the camera item doesn't do anything useful yet.
