Minecraft Bedrock Edition 1.16.100.51 is the second beta build working toward the massive 1.16.100 update, dropped in August 2020. This beta brings a ton of Java Edition parity improvements, especially for Iron Golems and various block mechanics, plus some nice quality-of-life tweaks that make the game feel more polished across Android and other platforms.
Iron Golem Improvements
Iron Golems got some much-needed attention to bring them closer to Java Edition behavior:
- Now properly attack Hoglins instead of ignoring them completely
- Can be healed using Iron Ingots - each ingot restores 25 health points
- Visual cracking system now shows their health status more clearly
- Attack patterns and targeting logic improved for better village defense
- Spawning requirements tweaked to be more reliable (though still not Java parity)
Block & Item Parity Updates
Lots of blocks and items got tweaked to match how they work in Java Edition:
- Iron Bars no longer get destroyed by Ghast fireballs and take slightly longer to break
- Concrete Powder now dries out at the same rate as Java Edition
- Snow-covered Pumpkins drop the actual pumpkin when sheared
- Turtles now make sounds when laying eggs (finally some audio feedback!)
- Dead Bushes will float up in water like they should
XP & Enchanting Fixes
They fixed a pretty important mechanic that was bugging players:
- Mending enchantment now works properly - XP always goes to item repair before filling your XP bar
- This means your enchanted gear actually gets priority healing like it's supposed to
- No more watching your tools break while XP goes straight to your level counter
Achievement Screen Overhaul
The achievements got a nice UI makeover that actually makes them usable:
- Gamepad bumpers can now switch between achievement tabs (console players rejoice!)
- Better default focus when navigating with controllers
- Extra spacing between achievement lists and the input legend at the bottom
- Achievement detail screen shows "Completed on other platform" info for cross-platform players
- Much cleaner overall layout that doesn't feel cramped
Nether Mob Tweaks
Some important fixes for the Nether creatures introduced in 1.16:
- Zoglins now take damage from Healing effects and heal from Harming (like undead mobs should)
- Zombified Piglins riding Striders properly hold Warped Fungus on a Stick
- Piglin Brutes no longer spawn with enchanted Golden Axes
- Various pathfinding improvements for Nether mobs
Nether Content Fixes
Several Nether-specific blocks and mechanics got refined:
- Nether Sprouts can be used in Composters again (was broken for a while)
- Soul Speed enchantment is now properly limited to Bastion Remnant chests
- Netherite armor no longer takes durability damage from standing on Magma blocks
- Soul Campfires drop Soul Soil instead of regular Charcoal when mined
- Strider health now matches Java Edition values
Technical Improvements
Behind-the-scenes stuff that makes the game run better:
- Better collision detection for various projectiles and entities
- Improved pathfinding algorithms for mobs
- More consistent block interaction mechanics
- Reduced random crashes during certain block interactions
- Enhanced stability when playing in multiplayer sessions
Creator & Add-On Features
For the technical crowd working with behaviors and add-ons:
- Several new experimental components for entity behavior
- Improved data-driven systems for mob interactions
- Better support for custom block mechanics
- Enhanced scripting capabilities for map makers
This beta was all about polish and parity - not flashy new content, but the kind of quality-of-life improvements that make the game feel more consistent and reliable. The Iron Golem changes alone make village defense way more interesting, and the Mending fix is something everyone's been waiting for!
As always with beta builds, backup your worlds before installing. This version was pretty stable, but you never know when experimental features might cause issues with your favorite saves.
